The Spring Meeting will be held at the Delhi Cafe in Holt (4625 Willoughby Rd #9) on Saturday April 29th beginning at 9 A.M.
PSM member Eric Torgersen, Professor Emeritus at Central Michigan University will lead a workshop-style presentation on the ghazal. “The workshop,” Eric writes, “will begin with a handout with samples of three forms of ghazal commonly written by American poets, each progressively more “formal.” We will practice the most formal of these, with rhyme and refrain, as described by Agha Shahid Ali in his book Ravishing DisUnities: Real Ghazals in English. After defining the form clearly and discussing some of the conventions, we’ll practice briefly by each writing a couplet using the same rhyme and refrain, producing a kind of group ghazal. Then each member will write his or her own ghazal and be invited to read it to the group.” The meeting cost is $25 per person, which includes a soup and salad lunch. Please contact our PSM Treasurer, Susan Anderson to make your meeting reservation by phone at (231) 429-2443 or by mail at PO Box 1035 Cadillac, MI. 49601 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
